Green Bank Master Template

Standard GB Left Menu - Flexible Width Text Area

Introduction

This is the Green Bank Master Template for creating flexible width HTML pages for Green Bank. Please do NOT copy this HTML source code from your browser. Instead use the SSI template gbtemplate.txt. Your content should be inserted in place of this text. Note that you must always use the <p> tag to start new paragraphs. You do not need to include any other formating tags, such as <font> or <size>, as this is all done for you by the CSS (cascading style sheet) definitions, which are maintained in separate files by the webmaster for pages at Green Bank. You can use the <b> and <i> tags for bold or italic text, as well as the <h1>, <h2>, <h3> or <h4> tags for headings and sub-headings (don't forget to close these tags). In order to maintain the NRAO design style, it is very important that you do not move, edit or delete any of the <div> tags in this template, except those around any optional sections. Don't forget to edit the page title at the top of this file, and the navigation links above, so that users can see the relative location of this page. The owner of the page should add their name at the bottom of the page (please note that the revision date is generated automatically).

Menu Bars

Please also note that the HTML code for the menu bars at the top and left of this page are maintained in separate HTML files and added to this page by Server Side Include (SSI) calls to our Apache web server. If you are viewing this page as a file on your local drive, you will not see the menu bars. Once your page is uploaded to the server the menu bars will then be displayed correctly. For the SSI calls to work you must set the filename extension to SHTML. These menu bars are common to all pages for the Green Bank. If you feel that they need a global change please contact the webmaster at Green Bank.

This is an example of a list

The research interests of some astrophysics groups are primarily concerned with the physical and chemical state, evolution and dynamics of the interstellar medium. More specific interests might include:

  • Astrochemistry
  • Star formation
  • Molecular clouds
  • Planetary nebulae

NRAO is also actively involved in ALMA and a partner in the SKA project.

This is an example of a table with images and text

Note: Internet Explorer will not display tables properly (alongside the left-hand menu) if they are specified as width="100%" or are wider than the currently available space in the browser's window. Also, there should be a <p> tag before (and after) the <table> tag to ensure correct vertical spacing around a table. Fix: Use FireFox or Safari. Also, see more Table Style Examples.

This is a optional footnote to the text above.
