When troubleshooting the ZY, it may be extremely useful to make a TELNET
connection to the ZY to try to duplicate the condition by entering
commands manually (see section 3.2). This provides immediate
feedback and also separates the client program from the ZY (the bug may
after all be in the client program).
The ZY implements a watchdog timer. This timer will reset the system if
processing comes to a halt for any reason. The watch dog timer keeps
a log file in the root directory called REMOTE.LOG. This file logs
the time and date of the reset, an index to the command that was executing
during reset, and an optional source code line number. The best way to
quickly view REMOTE.LOG is to use the command ``RDF REMOTE.LOG'' in
a TELNET session (see RDF). The file will scroll by the telnet screen.
If this file is long, it may be difficult to view the top. The most
recent resets are at the bottom of the file (see section 3.8).
