ZY System Resource Maps

To avoid hardware resource conflicts, the usage of hardware resources by the various ISA bus adapters used in the ZY computer has been standardized. There are three resources that must be considered when installing a new adapter card into the ZY computer:

1. IRQ lines used by the adapter. There are only 16, so these are a precious commodity.
2. I/O port address and space used by the adapter.
3. DMA channel used by the adapter. There are 4 8-bit and 4 16-bit DMA channels in the PC ISA architecture, and 3 of each are typically available.

The following sections are tables of system resource usage, including those used by devices standard to the PC architecture[31].
