Music

Some people keep blogs, I put all my music on the net...

This is just a collection of some of the stuff I've recorded over the years. It varys in quality and style.

There's some stuff missing; I don't know whatever happened to these recordings:

Mango

July 2001, Arecibo, Puerto Rico

Role: Everything

The three best things about teaching?: June, July & August. I discovered digital recording, and spent the entire monthe of July in my basement recording. Instruments: Violin, Bass, Acoustic Guitars, Bongos, Duduk, Percussion Loops, MIDI Programming. Check out the Web Site. Great Photos!

Incada

2002, Arecibo, Puerto Rico

Role: Bass, Gringo

Emanuel Gutiérrez is a talented guy: he wrote all these tunes, recorded them in his studio, and ran the band. The tracks are mostly pop/rock en Espanol. Check out the Web Site. Great Photos!

Hot Mofongo

Puerto Rico's one and only Gringo String Jazz Band. They'd never seen anything like us before (and probably won't ever again). The demo tracks were done at my place on my old 4-track. 'Au Prauve' was recorded at one of our rare gigs. Note: 'Mofongo' is a Puerto Rican dish consisting of fried mashed Plantations. I think we really confused a lot of Puerto Ricans with this name...

Fiddlicious

1998, Eugene OR

Role: Bass, Violin

No music yet, but what a great shot!:

Jazzcadia

1998, Eugene, OR

Role: Bass

This was a fun Jazz Trio. Chris, the guitar player, also plays on The Owls tracks.

The Owls

1998, Eugene OR

Role: Bass, Violin, Piano

A fun pop/rock band (Echo & the Bunnymen?). This was primarly a studio project, altough we did play one gig before we left for Puerto Rico. Good players!

Kalamity Jam

1994-1997, Eugene, OR

Role: Bass

See the video! Search for Paul Marganian on YouTube.

Another rock/funk group. This was a special band for me. When we got togethor, well, to be honest, we weren't so hot. But we worked hard, and after a year or two, we started to sound pretty good, and had a few 'glory' gigs. These tracks are from a live CD we did at the WOW Hall, Eugene, Oregon.

Analog Archives

1994 - 1997, Eugene, OR

Role: Everything

Back in the late 80's I got myself a Tascam 4-Track recorder. Here's stuff that I've done with it and recently digitized. Thanks a lot to Dana Vion (of Kalamity Jam), who let me use her guitars and keyboards for some of these recordings. These are pretty varied, from new age cheese, to wierd fussion. Instruments: Guitars, Bass, Violin, Keyboards (including Drums), Mandolin, Sitar, Flute, Percussion, Hindi

Baba Yaga

1992 - Amherst, MA

Role: Bass

UMASS's own ska band! Funny, none of us listened to Ska. The chorus of this tune is 'Blue Moon' in Russian. Andy does some great stuff in his own studio. Follow the 'Honey from the Hive' link.
