GBT STUDENT SUPPORT PROGRAM - Preliminary Funding Proposal Form

Applications to this support program are tied to new GBT observing
proposals.  To apply, send this completed form as an attachment inside
of the GBT Proposal Submission Tool along with the observing proposal.
Please do not rename this file; the file you attach to the observing
proposal should be named gbtstudentsupport.txt.

All appropriate sections of this form must be completed to be
considered.  If the student's work assignment also involves data from
related GBT observing proposals, please cite those proposals by their
codes (if known) or titles.

Factors considered in making awards through this program include, but
are not limited to, the science ranking of the related observing
proposal; a work assignment that clearly outlines the student's
contributions to the GBT research; the importance of the work to the
student's professional development (e.g., whether or not the GBT
research will be included in the student's dissertation); and a
responsible request for funds, given the number of hours allocated to
the observing proposal and the availability of other funds to support
the GBT research.  If the student's work assignment is building upon
results from a prior award to the advisor under this program, the new
GBT observing proposal should demonstrate progress made under that
prior award.

   Student Stipends (Funding cap US$ 32,000)

   Administrative costs may be attached to the student stipends.  If
   the funding cap of US$ 32,000 is being requested, no more than
   US$ 3,000 of that cap may be used for administrative costs.  If
   less than the funding cap is being requested, the administrative 
   costs may be no more than 10 percent of the stipend.
