Measuring apparent angular size of pulsars behind HII regions

Abstract

We propose to observe 14 pulsars to determine their apparent angular broadening with the help of VLBA, Arecibo telescope & Green-Bank telescope in the US, and WSRT, Jodrell and Noto in Europe. Comparison of angular broadening with the other scattering parameters like pulse broadening, di ractive scintillation time scale would help to understand the characteristics of the scattering medium. Our observations will in particular help to understand the scattering properties of Cygnus complex of HII regions.
