The Central Appalachian Astronomy Club and the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society of West Virginia have teamed up with the Green Bank National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) to bring you the only combined OPTICAL and RADIO star party. Being held June 20-23 at Green Bank, West Virginia, there will be lectures, how-to clinics, NRAO tours, daytime and nighttime observing, campsites, raffle tickets, movies, kids’ activities, cafeteria service, shower facilities, limited bunk house accommodations, astronomy vendors, instruction on and use of a 40' radio dish for a limited number of pre-registrants.
This is a family-friendly event for old pros and novice amateur astronomers alike! Bring your bike for easy and scenic transportaion around the telescopes.
NRAO is located on Route 92/28, about one half-mile north of the town of Green Bank, one hour south of Elkins,WV. Directions (pdf file).
