Title: Boltek Lightning Detection System

Last Revision: 04-SEP-03

General

The Boltek Lightning Detection system currently resides on the PC in the GBT control room. It is connected to an active antenna that is mounted on top of the Jansky Lab and feeds into an interface box located in the "Electronics" closet in the hallway outside the GBT control room. The signal from the box is fed via optical fiber into a serial port on the operator's PC (gbtops6). Specific information about the system can be found at: http://wwwlocal.gb.nrao.edu/GBTopsdocs/opman/od_litedet_overview.htm

Info

The gbtops account on gbtops6 is configured to start the lightning detection system on startup. It also starts the Virtual Network Computing (VNC) server software for remotely viewing and controlling the detector.
