Project: TBASErdn021202 Roger Norrod Setup using DCR to measure IF stability. IF Rack noise source into ODM 1, 3, and 5. (ODM 7 out of service). Equipment room connections as below: OR CM SF DCR CH 1 1 1 9 1 2 2 10 5 11 3 11 5 12 4 12 3 5 5 13 3 6 6 14 DCR mode TPwCal, tau=1s, T=300s, Recording all 16 chs; 1,3,5,9-14 valid. Scan 1 st at 14:27:11 -> Scan 12 fi at 15:28:19 I see a ~2% drift or warm-up in ODM5 TP not seen in ODM 1 or 3. Seemed to stabilize after ~30min. After scan 12, I manually changed AT1 in ODM5 from 19 to 31dB, waited a minute and then back to 19 dB. Started scan 13. Scan 13 st at 15:30:42 At 2:27 left in scan 14, changed ODM5-AT1 to 20 dB. At 0:45 left back to 19dB. At 2:09 left in scan 15, changed BPF to 3000/80MHz. at 0:45 left in 15, back to 3000/320MHz.At 3:05 left in 16, toggled s11 in ch5. This also caused software to turn Laser Power OFF. At 1:00 left, s11 back and laser power ON. At 3:00 left in 17, turned Ch5 laser Power OFF. At 0:40 left, turned laser ON. At 4:00 left in 19, changed IF Rack S6 to unused port. At 2:00 left in 19, S6 back to noise source. At end of scan 20, toggled S11 to Thru. This also turned laser power OFF. Will leave off for a while. At 2:00 left in scan 22, toggled S9 and S10 to Thru also. At 1:00 left in scan 24, S9, S10, and S11 back to cross (RF input connected again.) AT 4:30 left in scan 26, S9-S11 thru (Signal off); At 4:10, S9-S11 cross (Signal on). Tests ended at scan 28 fi at 16:52:14. Conclusions: - Something between the IF Rack noise source and the ODM5 detector showed a 2% start-up drift. (figure 1) - Short-tem fluctuations appear to be dominated not by thermal input fluctuations, but by gain fluctuations, at 1 sec, 320MHz. (figures 2-4) - All three chs. show a warm-up characteristic when the laser power control is turned off to on. (figures 5-7) - Something in channel 5, between the IF Rack S6 switch and the ODM5 BPF switches shows a warm-up memory. (figure 8)
