The design of the low-level software is dictated by the vxWorks operating system's device driver design. The driver will be a replacement for the driver used on the tty ports. The driver will handle all aspects of the SIB protocol, so that the user's program (the MCB task, see below) will be happily ignorant of the mayhem herein.
