The CGSR II is a baseband recorder, installed at the GBT. The CGSR2 is a private machine, and use of the machine can be granted only from Matthew Bailes: email@example.com
The CGSR2 samples raw voltages produced by the telescope receiver at the nyquist rate, allowing complete reconstruction of all information (both amplitudes and phases) present in the signal. This generates a huge amount of data (128 Megabytes per second in the present configuration), the recording and analysis of which requires a small supercomputer.
